‘Test & Measurement Product of the Year’… will it be Signal’s?!

Signal Group’s portable heated FID VOC analyser, the S4 SOLAR XPLORE, has made it to the finals of the Instrumentation Excellence Awards, and a team from Signal will be donning their red-carpet attire for a glittering award ceremony that will take place at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London on Thursday this week.

Flame Ionisation Detection (FID) has long been one of Signal’s core technologies, but with a clever design and utilising the latest technologies, the new SOLAR EXPLORE offers a number of exciting new features for the measurement of VOCs.

It has a detachable tablet interface which will be an enormous benefit for stack testers that have to travel up ladders and across roofs – with wireless access up to 50 metres.

The SOLAR XPLORE can be fitted with twin FIDs, which means that users will be able to monitor total VOCs, methane, and non-methane VOCs (NMVOCs) simultaneously.

Designed for easy maintenance, the chassis simply slides away to provide fast access to components.

Our customer purchased Signal Group’s latest fixed, heated FID, the S4 SOLAR, and we needed a little help with setup and commissioning because the customer wanted to calibrate his device with a special gas rather than propane. We therefore contacted Signal and they were able to log into the analyser remotely and quickly changed the analyser settings. Following this amendment, the analyser was operational in no time. As a result, the customer was delighted and said that Signal’s remote diagnostic capability was a very pleasant surprise!
